FAQs

  • We use a donor-advised fund created by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to make the transactions easy and secure.

  • A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account managed by a sponsoring organization, such as a community foundation or financial institution. (Greater Cincinnati Foundation) Donors contribute assets (cash, stocks, etc.) to the fund and receive an immediate tax deduction. They can then recommend grants from the DAF to qualified nonprofits over time. The sponsoring organization manages the investments, allowing the funds to grow tax-free until distributed to charities. DAFs offer flexibility and a streamlined way to support multiple causes.

  • Donations to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status are tax-deductible because the IRS recognizes them as charitable contributions. When donors give to eligible organizations, they can claim a deduction on their income taxes, reducing their taxable income. The donor must keep a receipt or acknowledgment of the donation, especially for amounts over $250, and the deduction amount cannot exceed certain IRS limits (usually a percentage of the donor’s income).

  • Our mission is to raise awareness and donations for communities in Appalachia impacted by Hurricane Helene. We partner with frontline organizations to ensure that funds go directly to hands-on relief efforts, rebuilding homes, and supporting those in need
